The Phoenix

I felt the void around me -
The void of emptiness,
The void of hopelessness,
Filled with anger and confusion.

I felt the void within me -
The void of pain,
The void of vain,
Filled with failure and remorse.

I felt my breath fill the void without,
I felt my thoughts fill the void within,
I saw my inner light shine through,
And burn the void away slowly.

I saw the smoke rise high up above,
And fill the void through and through,
I saw a delicate beast rise from the ashes,
And void the emptiness engulfing it.

I began to believe in the Phoenix,
The Phoenix that rises from it's own ashes,
I began to believe in myself,
The woman that arose from her own pain.
